International Human Solidarity Day
A free economy and strong communities honor the dignity of every person, rewarding effort with justice, promoting upward mobility, and building solidarity among citizens.

The celebration of the International Human Solidarity Day came about five years ago when the United Nations (UN) General Assembly acknowledged solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values that should govern relations between humans in the twenty- first century.
The theme for this year, "Bridging the Gaps to Reach the Millennium Development Goals" calls for the utilization of the amazing unity in diversity of the human race, by working together towards eradicating poverty, halting the spread of HIV/ AIDS and providing universal primary education by the year 2015. During his message on the day, the General Secretary of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon urged all human kind regardless of their background to work together to keep the promise made at the turn of the Millennium, and leave a legacy of peace, prosperity and sustainable progress for generations to come.
